A mobile-first redesign connecting international students with UC Berkeley's academic offerings.
BISP connects international students with UC Berkeley's academic programmes, but its previous site was outdated, hard to navigate and not built for mobile. Prospective students, partner universities and host faculty all struggled to find relevant information quickly, and the site fell short of the programme's global reputation.
This was a full redesign and rebuild in Drupal. We ran stakeholder interviews to clarify goals, then restructured the site's content around what those different audiences actually needed - clear pathways for students, faculty and partners, rather than a single generic structure trying to serve everyone at once.
With a large share of BISP's audience arriving on a phone from anywhere in the world, mobile wasn't a secondary consideration - it shaped the design from the start, alongside full WCAG-accessibility compliance and a content structure the BISP team could maintain themselves without design help for every update.
"I would say, first and foremost, their ability to communicate and support the client is superb. The delivery itself is also excellent, and we're very happy and proud of the website."

"Black Antelope did a phenomenal job of developing our website, including the CMS and design. They were able to work with anything we threw at them, and the finished product came out perfectly."

"Leo provided amazing concepts on a really unique character design and brought him to life. It was hard to choose - the final design was a fantastic, modern and fun way to boost our rebrand. A pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend his skills in character illustration."
