Climate Interpreter

Climate Interpreter is the virtual hub for NNOCCI (the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation), connecting aquariums, zoos, national parks, marine sanctuaries and science centres working on climate change communication, with support from NOAA, the NSF and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Aquarium brought Black Antelope in to redesign and rebuild the site, with a particular focus on information architecture and new social/community features.

Restructuring a sprawling amount of content

The site holds a huge amount of community content (training modules, discussion groups, a resource library, member listings), and the redesign meant reorganising and restructuring all of it, including rebuilding the site's Groups (built on Drupal's Organic Groups) into something genuinely navigable.

New ways to find people and partners

Two of the most-used new features are a members map, designed to help this geographically scattered community find and connect with each other, and redesigned partner-institution profile pages that give member organisations a proper presence within the site rather than a name on a list.
